Buh Bye California

So here are the photos of our last moments in California and a couple from our drive back home. I don’t know about you but I love road-trips, especially with my sweetheart. There’s just something about being confined to a small space, i.e. a car, for hours on end with someone you love while contemplating beautiful passing sceneries. I think I’ve probably had some of the best conversations of my life under those circumstances. As a bonus on this occasion, we got to witness a couple beautiful sunsets, both on our way there and on our way back; we even stopped on the side of the road to truly enjoy them.

We spent our last few hours in LA driving on the Pacific Coast Highway, enjoying the views of the ocean in Santa Monica and Malibu. We had our last Californian meal at the popular Gladstones restaurant in Malibu, where we again were blessed with wonderful food. I am a seafood junkie (I’m talking I could have all kinds of seafood in any presentation 24/7 and live happily ever after) so this place was heaven to me. In my book it just doesn’t get any better than having lick-your-fingers-it’s-so-good seafood on a beautiful terrace by the ocean.

Then we went back to Santa Monica Pier to enjoy the view of  its iconic ferris wheel and roller coaster sitting atop of it, and that was it, a few moments there, some snapshots, and pretty soon we were on our way back home.

All in all it was just a perfect little vacation, one of my favorite trips ever for sure (although that list just keeps getting longer and longer!). I hope you enjoy the pics, and let me know if you have any favorite spots in the LA area as I am definitely planning to go back as soon as I get a chance.

Look of the Day: California

Finally I get a chance to do a little fashion post, even if I have to keep it short and sweet due to lack of time. I know that sounds like a lame excuse, but it’s true. Things have been crazy for several weeks, and even as I’m slowly trying to get back to my good ol’ routine, truth is my mind is still scattered from it all. So bear with me please.
As you know, I spent a few days in California in early April, and this is the outfit I wore my first day there. We spent it strolling down the famous Venice Beach boardwalk and soaking up some sun in Malibu beach. By the way, if you are ever in Malibu, I highly recommend you visit Malibu Kitchen at the Malibu Country Mart; it is the cutest little market where you can find fresh food and great pastries and enjoy them in a nice casual setting.
Of course for such a casual and relaxing day, I just wanted to be comfortable, so this outfit is what I chose. The weather was chillier than I was expecting, but luckily I recently scored the perfect jean jacket at Old Navy (I had been searching for one for ages!) and it did the trick.
Besides the photos of my look, I added a few others from that day, hope you enjoy them!

Look of the Day: Everyday

Spring is just around the corner, and though most fashionistas out there can’t wait to start rocking their spring/summer ensembles, I on the other hand am a little bit bummed about not getting that much of a chance to wear my coats and boots. Winters might get colder than you’d think in the desert, but they are very short lived.
And speaking of boots, I’ve had this pair for 7 years and have worn them every single winter. I can even get a little melancholic when thinking about items that have been staples in my wardrobe for years, and to think of all the moments in my life they’ve been a part of.
Anyway, this outfit is very much me. In fact, you could even call it my “uniform”. No matter what season, you’ll very often find me in this kind of skirt with a simple top and a major necklace. Just add weather appropriate footwear (boots, sandals, heels), a belt if I want to look more put-together, and that’s it. Comfortable, flattering and easy…doesn’t get any better than that.
Now tell me, do you have a personal style “uniform”? What is it? Please share!
