Look of the Day: Beach Wedding

20121030-080201.jpg

Finally I get a chance to show you the look I wore Saturday night to a beach wedding in Mexico. I went for an of-the-moment nude dress since I had been dying for an opportunity to wear one. I was torn between wearing it with nude heels or black heels because I had decided to add a black belt to the ensemble, but ended up going for the nude choice, the lighter color felt more beach appropriate.
Now, one of my favorite things about this look is my hair and makeup. The wedding was nearby my hometown and I have been going to the same stylist there for over 10 years. She’s absolutely brilliant, seriously Hollywood stylists got nothing on her. We decided to do a deep red, almost burgundy, lip color, which I adored so much I ended up buying it on the spot. And the hair, a side updo with retro waves, I loved just as much.
So, what do you think of the dramatic lip, will you be wearing darker lips this season?

The winner

I know the presidential elections here in the US are not happening for another 10 days, but my title for this post refers to a much shallower subject… The voting you guys did on the Facebook page of abril’s corner. For those of you who missed it and don’t know what I’m talking about, here’s the story: I had been searching for the perfect leopard pumps for a while, and finally found two pairs the look like good candidates, one pointy toe pair and one round toe pair; I was indecisive between the two so I figured I would ask for help from you, my beloved readers, through Facebook. I really appreciate the fact that many of you took the time to share your opinion with me. However, I still wasn’t sure which way to go when I stumbled upon a third pair, not too pointy not too round, just perfect! So I ended up going with option #3. What do you think about my choice?

The two original candidates

Now, with this decision made, I can cross one more item off my never ending wish list. The rest of the items left on it at the moment, and ones I’ll be keeping an eye out for on my following shopping excursions, are these:

What is on your fashion wish list right now? I’d love to know, please share!

P.S. If you haven’t yet liked the blog’s new Facebook page, please do so here. Thanks!

Look of the Day: Candids

The title of this post stems from the fact that most of the pictures in it are candid photos, which is shocking to me! If there’s something worse than me trying to pose for a photo, it’s me not posing for a photo while it’s taken.  I mean, when I try to pose I might look awkward and unnatural, but when I don’t the pictures usually end up being the most unflattering photos ever. However, this time either my very amateur photographer is getting better at capturing me unguarded at just the right time, or the photography Gods decided to have mercy on me and allow for some good candid shots to happen…perhaps both. Whatever it was, all I have to say is yay!

In other news, you are now getting  a first glimpse at one of my many current obsessions: burgundy! Just look at these gorgeous shoes, I just couldn’t resist buying them as soon as I saw them (on clearance thank goodness!).  As you probably already know, it’s the color of the season, and it is everywhere. It has always been one of my favorite autumn colors, so there’s already several burgundy items in my closet, so be prepared to get several doses of this hue in future posts.
