Travel: Concrete Jungle

Finally, after 12 weeks on the road, I arrived home last night feeling like Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz: there’s no place like home!! Unfortunately, it turns out that 12 weeks of not sleeping in your own bed means you have to get used to it again. In other words, I didn’t get great sleep last night, but I’m still very happy to be home. Granted, I’m also a tad overwhelmed with my long to-do list, so it’ll take a few days before I’m actually comfortably settled in again. However, I can get started on that to-do list right now.

“Post my NYC photos on the blog”, checked! Since this is what this post is really about. It was merely 5 weeks ago that I was in New York City enjoying everything the concrete jungle has to offer. This was my third consecutive year to visit NY during Labor Day weekend, and though I love the idea of making it a tradition to visit the big apple at least once a year, I may need to pick a different holiday to do so. Early September is still pretty hot over there; in fact, this year, it was the hottest I’ve ever witnessed, and being a woman of the desert, this humid heat is definitely not for me.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I think I might go take a nap while you scroll down to see the photos. Have a lovely weekend darlings!

Look of the Day: The Last Goodbye

Today I bring you a look of the day shot on my last day in Vancouver. Right before heading to downtown Vancouver for a farewell dinner with friends, my dear Norma and I stopped by the Waterfront Park to try to get some photos with the Vancouver skyline as a backdrop.

The whole evening was the perfect way to say goodbye to this beautiful city, my wonderful friends, and this lovely time in my life. The sun was setting, the weather was gorgeous, location was perfect. Right after the photo-shoot, I rode the seabus into downtown for the last time, enjoyed a delicious dinner with my summer Charming Gardeners, and wrapped the night at my favorite jazz bar.

Even though I left Vancouver 4 weeks ago, with this last post and photos from my time there, it kind of feels like the last goodbye. I know I’ll go back there sometime, but for now…goodbye to Vancouver and to a time in my life that will never come back.

Charming Gardeners

Let us be grateful to people that makes us happy, they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. Marcel Proust

People come into our lives and people leave. No matter if we crossed paths for 5 minutes or a lifetime, they leave a part of them with us and take a part of us with them. I met some wonderful people from all over the world in Vancouver, and they made my summer very special. I hope to see them again sometime and will try to keep in touch virtually, but even if I never saw them or heard from them again, I will always consider them my friends and I’m forever grateful for their kindness.
